News from the Editor of The Universe – a new Catholic Directory of England and Wales for 2022

Many of you will know that The Universe is no longer published. We have received the following communication from Joseph Kelly which we believe will be of interest to our readers.

I am writing to you about the Official Catholic Directory of England & Wales. As you may know, due to Covid, the Catholic Universe newspaper ceased publication this year, and its publisher Universe Media Ltd (UMG) has gone into liquidation.

At UMG I edited and produced the Catholic Directory for a number of years, as well as 26 years as the editor of The Catholic Universe. With the demise of the company I was determined to continue my commitment to Catholic publishing, so have established The Edit Partnership Ltd, to produce high quality publications and resources for our Catholic community.

As a consequence of the closure of The Universe, no Catholic Directory was produced for 2021, but I’m delighted to say that The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales has asked me to produce a 2022 Official Catholic Directory of England & Wales, in the same style and format as previous editions.

I am updating the Directory across September and October and would be very grateful if you could advise any changes by 15th October latest. If there are any other areas where I can be of support and assistance to your mission please don’t hesitate to ask.

As always thank you for all your help and support for the directory project, and for your very kind prayers and messages of personal support at this challenging time.

Kind regards

JOSEPH

In addition, there is a new website, launched by the Edit Partnership – www.thecatholicnetwork.co.uk – to help support the England & Wales Catholic Church and it organisations. It is well worth a look and we can be grateful to Joseph Kelly and his colleagues for taking this initiative to support the Catholic Church in England and Wales in these difficult times. We wish him every success.
